A history, a reputation...

It's the story of a shared passion, an active search based on a love of authenticity: the charm of yesteryear, old half-timbered or stone houses, but also a deep desire to change life and region.

After years of restoring and renovating a half-timbered Norman house in the Eure department, we decided to settle in Calvados in search of a beautiful stone house to renovate.

Renovation of the Ancienne Auberge de la Mue

After a great deal of research, we fell under the spell of a beautiful stone building typical of the Caen region, just a stone's throw from the sea. Our aim was always to bring the past back to life, to revive a place while respecting its past and authenticity with a contemporary touch, to recreate a place where people would feel at home, a place that would provide them with a change of scenery, relaxation, calm and serenity.

It's also a desire to meet and exchange ideas with travellers from all over the world, to help them discover our beautiful region steeped in history, Normandy, where we both come from.

In 2022, we fell in love with this beautiful eighteenth-century stone building, previously used as an inn/hotel, which we have renovated and brought up to date. It comprises the old inn and the hotel part reserved exclusively for our guests.

Built in 1780 of white Creully stone, this beautiful building was originally and for a long time a fine farmhouse. It was then remodelled and renovated over the years to become an Auberge/hotel, nicknamed "l'Auberge de la Mue", which enjoyed its splendour and renown in the 1980s.

The whole region used to come here to eat and enjoy the surroundings. The place was well known and coveted for its refined cuisine, and was an ideal venue for receptions, weddings, business meals, christenings, etc.

Situated in a typical village in the heart of the Thue valley, crossed by the river Mue, halfway between Caen and the sea (10 km away), you will find our beautiful building and you will be able to discover and enjoy the Normandy coastline, the Côte de Nacre, the D-Day landing beaches, Caen and its castle, Bayeux and its tapestries.

It's the ideal place to enjoy a quiet croissant, read a book or simply take in the natural beauty that surrounds you. Our guests particularly appreciate this space for its soothing ambience and rustic charm.
